A new West End show is opening which takes the audeince on a theatrical journey through the life of the legendary balladeer Woody Guthrie.
Tragic, captivating and noble, the production is immersed in the soul and the sound of Guthrie, showing the painstaking lows and memorable victories which punctuated the all-too-short life of Guthrie: a champion for the underdog, alcoholic and schizophrenic, who lived much of his life on the road.
The musical about the man – known as the Godfather of American folk – was written by David M. Lutken and shows the reserve, strength and hope of one of America’s most revered songwriters who was claimed at the age of just 55.
The show at London’s Arts Theatre in Great Newport Street, opens on Tuesday 18 January, 2011.
